W-4 before heading home, on April 29th I land in Cancun and directly take a bus to Playa del Carmen arriving in the active nightlife. Playa del Carmen is more of a tourstic and partying place, the type of places I wanted to get away from. I therefore stayed overnight to rent a car in the morning and head to one of new wonders of the world: the old Mayan city: Chichen Itza. A couple of hours drive from Playa del Carmen and I enter the mysterious site early afternoon. The site is very big and closes at 5, meaning that I didn't have time to see everything. It is a very majestic place but due to the high cost of having a guided tour and of any informative signs around, my visit was lacking something to make it more memorable and "impressive".
Yet the landscape and architecture of the village is something one cannot forget.

Entance fees: at the exit of the highway, there's a booth from Mayaland hotel which offers visitors an alternative to the main entrance of the park, which is usually very full, especially the parking line. They offer an alternative to quickly entering the site (within max 20-30min) cutting off the touristic line. They offer various packages, withi out without a food offer, for a reasonable price. I highly recommend it!
