Our last visit of the Cusco region: the legendary Machu Pichu!
7:00 we are ready to leave waiting for our tour company to pick us up from the hotel. One our later they finally arrive, it will only be the beginning of many misadventures but at least we made it! In order to reach Aguas Calientes we had a transport from Cusco to Hydroelectrica (6 hours ride) and from there we walked by the train track about 2h-2h30 to Aguas Calientes, the only way to reach the Machu Pichu Pueblo on a budget (otherwise the train is very costly). The positive of this option is the lovely walk within the jungle to reach Aguas calientes, despite the fact that it can be dangerous and that walking two hours on small rocks isn't very comfortable). Leaving aside the misadventures, let's focus on one of the most beautiful places I have seen on earth! |
