Final escape before leaving Sucre: the town of Tarabuco where it is said to have a beautiful Sunday market. About 1h drive from town this little escapade offers a beautiful landscape within the Andes. There's nothing except a few poor houses here and there, even a school, but the most shocking was to see children begging on the side of the road, or simply passing time somewhere in the middle of the landscape...
Once arrived in town, we were touched by the charm of this town, and that charm it offers with the colourful Sunday market (where obviously you can buy anything!). What we liked the most about it was how authentically this experience was: all around town we saw locals dressed in different traditional gowns, such a beautiful thing to see! Most of them were elderly people, unfortunately marked by the age, the sun, poverty, hard labour - and probably too much coca leaves chewing... It was heart-breaking to see such a precarious life and not be able to help them all...
In a nutshell, Tarabuco is a worthwhile Sunday escapade to a lovely cute and colourful village full of life on Sundays.
